QCAP Student Assistant
The Queens College AANAPISI Project (QCAP) is a federal-grant-funded project that aims to support the academic success, mental health, and community engagement of Queens College’s diverse and underserved Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) students via a range of programs. The QCAP Student Assistant will assist the QCAP Program Coordinator in planning and executing QCAP’s events and programs, along with other administrative duties.
Job Qualifications
- Queens College student
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Some relevant administrative work or volunteer experience
- An interest in issues that concern Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities and/or Asian American studies
- A desire to work for an organization focused on supporting Queens College’s diverse and underserved AAPI students
- Excellent verbal, written, and visual communications skills
- The ability to work independently as well as with others, manage time, communicate in a timely manner, troubleshoot challenges, and meet deadlines
- An attention to detail
- An openness to learning new skills and growing professionally and as part of a team
- Proficiency with Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, and Canva, Adobe, or other graphic design programs/tools
Responsibilities
- Report to the QCAP Program Coordinator
- Maintain regular communication with the QCAP Team via Slack and email, during scheduled work hours, and during team meetings
- Attend QCAP events and assist with event planning and execution (e.g., putting up flyers, helping set up and clean up, working the sign-in/registration table, etc.)
- Assist with and provide administrative support for our collaboration with the Asian American Community Studies (AACS) program
- Assist with brainstorming and executing ideas for student-centered programming and resources
- Assist with outreach to AAPI students and student clubs/organizations and their leaders/boards
- Assist with maintaining and staffing the QCAP Community Space in PH 251
- Other tasks reasonably requested by QCAP (e.g., assisting with data collection and data entry, representing QCAP at QC meetings and events, etc.)
Location/setting: Hybrid
Compensation: $18/hour
Workload: 7-10 hours per week, up to 20 hours (max.) per pay period (every two weeks)
Duration: 10/01/2025–9/30/2026 (with the possibility of reappointment)
