📣ANNOUNCEMENTS

Fill Out an Important Survey for a Chance to Win a $50 Gift Card!

QCAP would like to learn more about the experiences and needs of QC’s Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) students. If you, your parents, or any of your ancestors migrated from East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, West Asia, and/or the Pacific Islands, please check your email for an important survey! (And if you didn’t receive an email with the survey link, please reach out to us at [email protected] or DM us on Instagram @qcap.queens.) It should take less than 10 minutes, and if you complete the survey by Friday, April 18, you’ll be entered into a raffle to win one of five $50 Amazon gift cards. (If you completed this survey last year, we invite you to fill it out again for another chance to win the raffle.) Please help us learn more about you so we can better serve and support all QC students!

The QCAP Community Space Is Open!

For the Spring 2025 semester, the QCAP Community Space in Powdermaker Hall 251 is open every Tuesday from 9:30am to 4:00pm! Stop by to study, take a break between classes, or learn more about QCAP’s programs and resources. We have snacks, a microwave, and an iMac available for student use!

The QCAP Space is also still available for reservation by students Monday through Thursday! If you would like to reserve the space for studying, meetings, etc., please book online at least 1 day in advance at https://qcapspacereservation.setmore.com/.

Note: The QCAP Community Space will be closed from April 8–18 for Spring Break.

Summer 2025 QCAP Faculty Workshops Application Now Open!

QCAP invites applications for our 2025 summer faculty development workshops, scheduled for August 7, 8, and 14. The QCAP Faculty Workshops are designed to support QC faculty in teaching QC’s diverse AAPI students, in understanding local AAPI histories and issues, and in developing and implementing Asian American studies course content and pedagogies.

The QCAP Faculty Workshops are open to QC faculty across all disciplines and fields. We especially encourage part-time/contingent faculty to apply. QC faculty who complete all 3 workshop sessions, complete assigned readings and tasks, and submit a post-workshop reflection will receive $1,600.

QCAP RECAP

QCAP Mental Health Workshop with Renee Floresca (3/05)

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our spring QCAP Mental Health Workshop, “Self-Proclamation: Declaring Our Needs and Wants”! Led by Filipina actor, writer, and educator Renee Floresca, this workshop helped us destress and gain clarity on who we are and what we need and want in the current moment. Through interactive writing exercises and open discussion, we created a safe and welcoming space to share our personal journeys and express what matters most to us. It was a great reminder that it’s important to declare our needs and take care of ourselves. A huge thank you to Renee for speaking from her truth and helping to make this workshop such a meaningful experience!

Ride with Delivery Workers Screening and Q&A (3/18)

We had an insightful evening with AACS and QCAP at the screening of Ride with Delivery Workers! We learned a lot about the lives of Chinese immigrant food delivery workers and the challenges they face. After the screening, filmmaker Jing Wang and Urban Studies professor Dr. Do Lee had a Q&A session where they shared more about the making of the film and discussed the workers’ experiences and their ongoing fight for food delivery workers’ rights in greater detail. A big thank you to Jing Wang and Professor Lee for their time and expertise, and to everyone who joined us!

Career Pathways & Asian American Studies Panel (3/24)

We were so inspired by the speakers at last week’s “Career Pathways & Asian American Studies” panel, co-organized by AACS and QCAP! Carolyn Tran, Kevin Park, Nabila Chowdhury, and Nadia Saleh each shared about their journeys throughout and after college and how their different career and life pathways had been shaped by studying Asian American studies and/or engaging Asian American communities. We’re so grateful to Carolyn, Kevin, Nabila, and Nadia for their generous and generative remarks, and we hope to invite them back for another career panel in the future!
